Typical Day

Morning Session : 7 am to 8.30 am Yoga/Pranayama

Theory Session: 10 am to 12.00 pm
Afternoon Session: 2 pm to 4 pm (Except Sunday)

Strategic Purpose Graduates will be able to provide practical tools for Yogic Management for different disorder       
Entry Requirements Applicants must be at least 18 years of age, must also be able to speak and read English to a level to understand course terminology used

Theory

  1. Introduction to yoga therapy-definition, need and scope, aims and objectives of Yoga Therapy
  2. Yoga and Ayurveda, the sciences for complete healing of body, mind and soul
  3. Yogic diet –satvic, rajasic and tamasic diets
  4. Fundamentals of Ayurveda
  5. Difference between the physiological changes between yoga therapy and exercises
  6. Anatomy and physiology-an Yogic overview of the respiratory, digestive, excretory, nervous, musculoskeletal, endocrine, circulatory systems
  7. Yoga Therapy and the mind, mental diseases- Stress management, depression, anxiety etc.
  8. Diseases and their Yogic Management-back problem, heart diseases, arthritis, hypertension, high and low blood pressure, asthma, common cold, obesity, thyroid diseases…etc
  9. Yoga and women’s health
  10. Pregnancy and yoga

Practicals

Basic movements-loosening movements

  1. Asanas/yoga positions/
  2. Therapeutic Standing postures
  3. Therapeutic Sitting postures
  4. Therapeutic Lying down postures
  5. Pranayama (breath control) - Sitali, Sitkari, Ujjayi, Bhramari, Bhasrika, Surya Bhedan, Chandra Bhedan, Nadi Shodhan Pranayama
  6. Omkar  and chanting
  7. Deep relaxation techniques, short relaxation techniques
  8. Yoga nidra
  9. Shatkarmas in yoga therapy –cleansing procedures- Neti, Vamana dhouti, Basti, Shankhaprakshalana, Agnisar, Kapalbhati, Tratak
